Girl Up

Girl Up Michigan works to foster a positive, gender-inclusive environment on campus while also promoting advocacy about women’s rights within our six focus countries, the United States, and the local Ann Arbor area. We do this through fundraising, discussions, and coalition events with other organizations. Girl Up works to be more than just a club but strives to be a welcoming community for students.

Our community holds general meetings to be able to meet new people and create open conversations about a range of topics from how to be safe as a woman on campus to the importance of voting and being politically active. In addition to our general meetings, we promote a close-knit community by having biweekly social events where the community can come wind down from a busy week of school and talk with other members.

As members of FemForward, we try to work with other local organizations to promote equity on the University of Michigan’s campus. FemForward provides us a platform to be able to brainstorm ideas on how to make the campus a more welcoming place. It provides a great network of amazing organizations that all work towards one common goal.
